Concepts and definitions:
Estimates the risk of death for live births during their first year of life and consists of relating the number of deaths of those under one year of age, per 100 live births, in the resident population in a given geographical space, in the year considered.
Method of calculation:
Numerator: Number of deaths of residents under one year of age according to sex, locality of residence and year of death.
Denominator: number of live births according to sex, locality and year.
Constant: 1000
Unit of measure:
Multiplied by 1000
