Get to know the project

The Children’s Mental Health Promotion Platform, focused on the age group from 0 to 19 years of age, is an online tool which provides detailed information on how a given territory’s environment influences that population’s mental health. Through a georeferenced index, the Platform offers public managers valuable data to guide public policies.

Methodology

The Children’s Mental Health Promotion Platform aims to show if the environment of a given territory is more or less conducive to good mental health for children and adolescents.
The platform consists of an index which synthesizes 29 indicators related to factors which protect from or increase risks of mental illness. The indicators are grouped into five categories, called domains: access, use and demand of health services; stressful events; morbidity in health; positive social relations; and sociodemographic. The index is visualized on a map, which allows you to see the overall and domain-specific indices for Brazil as a whole, for the 27 units of the federation and the 5,570 municipalities.
The data utilized are from 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, which allows for visualization of variations over time for each territory.

Cards by indicator

Available for each of the 29 indicators that compose the Children’s Mental Health Promotion Index is a detailed card which includes: the domain to which it belongs, concepts and definitions, method of calculation, unit of measure, variables involved, sources and responsible institutions, periodicity of updates and references.

What about the racial inequities?

Collecting and analyzing data disaggregated by race/color is fundamental to understanding inequities and creating more just public policies, strengthening territories in the promotion of mental health. The absence of this information, however, reflects the lack of prioritization of an instrument essential to the systemic visibility of racism.
